Dhahran High School Athletic Program

At DHS we want to give the students the opportunity to strive for excellence in both academics and athletics.

DHS is a member of SAIK-AC.  The Saudi Arabian Inter Kingdom Activities Conference.  Through this conference we get the opportunity to compete in tournaments during the year in the following sports.  Table Tennis, Volleyball, Soccer, Cross Country, Cricket, Basketball, Badminton, Softball.  Students will be introduced to these various sports in their PE classes.   They then have the opportunity to go for try-outs after school, to be selected for the school teams.  There are approximately 20 coaches involved in the athletic program.

Coaches will identify impact and most valuable players in each team and the athletes of the year will be selected from these players.   At the end of the year we will honour our athletes at the DHS sport Banquette where they will receive letters, pins, trophies for impact and most valuable players as well as Athletes of the year.  200-250 athletes, coaches, and parents will attend this event.

Table Tennis

The school year starts off with Table Tennis season. This event has grown over the last few years into a very popular activity.  Students can represent DHS at the SAIK-AC tournament as a boys and girls high school team.  DHS has been the defending champions for two consecutive years.

Volleyball

Volleyball season starts in early September, and the season will last approximately six weeks.  DHS has two Varsity teams and two Junior Varsity teams and the highlight of the season is the SAIK-AC tournament.  At these tournaments we compete against eight to ten schools.  Our Varsity Girls team was crowned as champions this year.  A spring training camp is in place to prepare the girls for next season.

Soccer

A popular sport at DHS, soccer generated a high interest amongst both boys and girls.  Try-outs are always well attended and students can be selected to represent the school in either Varsity or Junior Varsity teams.  Our Junior Varsity Boys brought our fourth Championships banner home this year!

One of the largest teams at DHS, the Cross-country season begins around November with the annual meet held at ARAMCO in January. DHS has won the banner for Cross-Country the past two years.

Students can represent DHS in either Varsity or Junior Varsity Teams.  A team consist  of 5 players.  Teams travel to Riyadh to play in a two-day tournament.  The players have always done DHS proud by bringing home SAIK-AC medals!

Softball

We end our Sports calendar with Softball.  In SAIK-AC tournaments we play Slow-pitch, co-ed softball.  Both boys and girls slog it out on the pitch and strive for victory.   DHS has either been Champions or first runner ups for the past few years.
