The School and Community

Dhahran Academy was founded in 1962 as a non-profit, co-educational, day school for children of American Consulate staff.  It is composed of three schools located next to the US Consulate for the Eastern Province in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia.  By decree of the Saudi government in 1999, Dhahran Academy set in motion changes to provide a full Pre-K through 12th grade program with the addition of Dhahran High School (DHS), the first of its kind in the kingdom.

The Senior class of the 2001 marked Dhahran High School’s first graduating class.  Graduates from DHS receive a high school diploma from Saudi Arabia’s first American curriculum high school, accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.
Dhahran High School is adjacent to the commercial and government centers of Al-Khobar and Dammam.  The city of Dhahran includes the Royal Saudi Air Base, King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, and the headquarters for Saudi Aramco.  The geographic area of DHS is the Arabian Gulf in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia.
